BUILD MODE TRACKING / SWITCH MODE

BUILD MODE TRACKING is a setting that prevents interference from MODS while you are building and editing.  It will track or presses and the many actions that you perform as you move in and out of the build and edit menu, as well as some other menus.

  • In BUILD MODE, a YELLOW LIGHTBAR / LEFT LED BANK will indicate CONTROLLER MODS are SUSPENDED.  This will also occur during inventory management, emote and squad comms, and when opening the menu or map.

  • While we do our best to prevent Build Mode Tracking from losing sync with your game, it can happen, especially if you walk away from a piece that you are editing, edit without a piece to edit, or when you are rebooting, or respawning in game modes such as Team Rumble.

  • Using an aggressively low Edit Hold Time such as 0.100, or removing "/ Edit" from "Switch Mode" (UNSUPPORTED) will also make it especially difficult for Build Mode Tracking to stay in sync.

In MOD Central, we recommend using Improved Tracking.  If however, your in-game "Confirm Edit on Release" setting is set to ON, you will need to select the Confirm Edit on Release variant of Improved Tracking.

The Legacy Tracking options are very similar to the previous Build Mode Tracking in the Fortnite (Legacy) GAMEPACK.  This does however have a higher chance of losing sync.

The MOD Toggle on Build option is predictable but significantly less convenient.  Each time you build or edit anything, you will need to switch back to your pickaxe to resync your MODS.  This also applies to opening up inventory management, the menu, or the map.

And lastly, the Disabled option ignores your in-game build state, but clears Weapon AI Pro detections when you build, edit, or enter menus, while trying its best to suspend MODS that would interfere until a new weapon is detected.  If you rapidly alternate between a combat and building state to the point that Build Mode Tracking is losing sync too often, or if you find Build Mode Tracking to be more trouble than it is worth, then this is the option for you.

IMPORTANT:  If Build Mode Tracking is Disabled, you should aware of the following:

  • Class 3 - Shot Mode MODS are more likely to cause issues while building.  Crouch MODS can rotate your building pieces.

  • You can avoid this issue by changing the in-game controls so that the "Rotate Piece" button is moved or unbound (the left stick button is a possible choice for moving it).

  • Alternatively, you can use the Action Button / Paddle MOD alternates and sidestep the issue entirely.

  • Class 4 - Quick Scope MODS will be effectively disabled regardless of their setting.  There are Action Button / Paddle MOD alternatives that you can use.

  • Because Weapon AI Pro clears itself more, it also has to re-detect more often when you fire, and re-detection causes a slight delay before Rapid Fire kicks in.  It is wise to plan around this by holding the attack button a little earlier when you enter fights.

HIGHLY IMPORTANT:  IF YOU ARE USING AN IN-GAME CUSTOM CONTROLLER CONFIGURATION, SWITCH MODE MUST BE SET TO "SWITCH MODE / EDIT" OR "SWITCH MODE", DEPENDING ON WHAT YOU HAVE SETUP IN-GAME.
  • SETTING THIS CORRECTLY WILL SIGNIFICANTLY IMPROVE THE TRACKING FEATURE.

BUILD MODE TRACKING RESYNC METHOD:

Whichever Build Mode Tracking option that you are using, for rebooting in normal gameplay, respawning in Team Rumble, walking away from a piece that you are editing, edge cases, etc...

  • Either when you are parachuting (NOT diving), or when you are on the ground, quickly switch to your pickaxe and back.  This will keep Build Mode Tracking from losing sync and your MODS from being unexpectedly toggled off in combat.
